Raffael Beier is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Spatial Planning, TU Dortmund University. He holds a joint-PhD from International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, and Ruhr University Bochum. During 2020, Raffael Beier was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Urbanism and Built Environment Studies (CUBES), University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. In his research, he has been focusing on informal settlements, displacement, and resettlement, mainly in Morocco and South Africa. Together with Amandine Spire and Marie Bridonneau, he recently published the edited volume “Urban Resettlements in the Global South” (2022, Routledge).
